best 22 pocket pistol for the money
« on: 20 Sep 2011 - 20:12:06 »
I have done a lot of reading I was wondering what's the best 22lr pocket. pistol. I had  a Taurus pt22 it was very picket about the ammo. I like to use the federal brick ammo. all my other 22s use that just fine.  I would not even mind a revolver but they cost a little more. thanks for reading my post.

Check out the Walther P22. My buddy has one and it eats federal 525 bricks like nothing.

P22 is a decent .22 but I wouldn't call it a pocket gun.  Check out the Phoenix arms hp22a.  I just ordered one with the 5" threaded barrel.  The ones with the 3" barrel are very small.

Everything I read about them they aren't super ammo picky...
What if there were no rhetorical questions?

Hunt around and find a good condition Sterling Arms model 302.  Its a small palm sized one and mind has probably had about 1200 rounds though it.  When I purchased it I had the 3rd round FTE.  That one felt kind of gummy when I loaded the magazine and I was thinking that might be an issue.  Since that time I have had no problems with it eating whatever I had to put in it.  I love mine and would be confident carrying it as my primary concealed one if I did not have one more appropriate.

I've seen several threads about those things...  the kits with both barrels.  I'm really lusting after one now.  I'll have to see if my LGS can get me one for a good price.

Steer clear of the Beretta Bobcat. Can't hit the broadside of a barn with that POS.

I've got one and I have to say I love it! It goes to the range with me every time and is a blast to shoot. You should be aware that Phoenix recommends that you only use standard velocity ammo in it,but that is no problem.Mine is accurate and never fails to function like it should.I live in Florida so it goes with me in my cargo shorts a lot because of the hot weather. It's a little heavy but once you get used to it it's OK.Some will say a .22 is not a good choice for self defense but I say 10rounds of accurate .22 should do the job.One more thing about them is you should change out the recoil spring after a couple thousand rounds. morayman............

Bersa/Firestorm 22

Phoenix 22a
The phoenix fits easier in the pocket with a flat bottom mag and is a little smaller than the Bersa.

yes it is.  it requires AOT of proactice to be proficeint with, and has a max range of 7-10 yards.  they also require high velocity ammo to work properly.  i use CCI stingers in mine and get 100% function.  it requires a totally different grip and shooting style vs a regular pistol to be accurate.  i trust my life to my bobcat.

and i got a real kick out of someone calling a beretta a POS.

You may not be able to, but I can shoot a cat (just an example people) between the eyes with one easily. The grandparents have a couple of them on the farm, I use them to dispatch critters. Armadillos usually.
