Recoil Spring for Mossberg 702 Plinkster?
« on: 14 Jan 2012 - 17:23:40 »
I bought a plinkster today for $60 but it has a bent up recoil spring. I know you can get them from mossy, but IIRC you have to order from them over the phone which is totally lame. Anyone know where I could get one online? Numerich has them listed but they're sold out.

mossberg is probably it then.  and BTW youre not alone.  a quick google search revealed about three dozen pages of "i bent my 702 recoil spring".  i would call and complaina  bit and maybe youll get one for free.

I straightened the spring out myself as best I could and got it to functioning. I'll change the spring later if I don't sell it first.

Nice!

If you want to keep it you could use it as a platform to practice trigger work and stuff on.

I'm kind of already doing that with the 597. I hate the Mossberg because it has a last round hold open but the bolt slams closed when you remove the mag, it annoys the hell out of me. And the lips on the mag are sharp as hell so my thumb is pretty sore even after only a few mags, and it has some serious mag wobble.

Yeah, they are pretty much the bottom of the barrel of semi auto .22s, but they work fine and can take a lot of abuse in most cases.
